Too tired to take her time, she just pulled out the first three her hands touched. A pirate duck, a police duck, and a tugboat. Handing the bag back to Theo, she tossed the toys into the tub and watched through bleary eyes as they bobbed around on the rising water.

“Okay, little bird, time to climb in and get clean,” Theo said.

She took his hand and held it tight as she stepped into the tub. He did not release her until she was seated in the middle of the tub. After turning off the water, he climbed in and settled behind her. Not sure what was happening, Lyssa leaned forward since she couldn’t move too far away from him.
